Paraguay Expat and Travel ArticlesExploring the Obscure Paraguayan Cuisine
Admittedly, the cuisine of Paraguay is not something that can easily conjure images in one's mind. Paraguay is not a force to be reckoned with in the culinary world, and those who are not that much familiar with the country are sure not to know about the cuisine that it represents. For those who already live in Paraguay, many even think that Paraguayan cuisine is nothing more than junk food and pizza. You still have to dig deeper in order to find good restaurants offering genuine Paraguayan food.

For pastries, you should try out the empanadas, or bread with various fillings like fruits and meat. You should also not miss the chipa, or cheese bread made from manioc flour. Paraguayan cuisine may not be popular on the global stage as much as the cuisines of its neighboring countries, but those who do try them out will be surprised just how much reflective of the local culture the food is. Now stop dropping by McDonald's and start eating those asado! You can talk about...
